DoubleTapper delights with women of the IDF and their armament.

I mean, seriously. I look at that first picture and simply start drooling. The word "beauty" doesn't even begin to describe it. I'm in love.

I mean, that Trigicon paralex sight is simply gorgeous!

The women aren't half bad either ;)

A difference that stinks

So, I watched this video yesterday

and took the guy's advice about getting some high temperature wheel grease for the Glock.

I've generally used basic gun oil to lube all my pistols and rifles, but as Mr. Yeager said in the video, the oil is loose and runs out of every nook and cranny which invariably collects dust and gunk. My Glock definitely shows wear on the barrel, so I figured for $3.19 for a tub of it at the local automotive chain, if it didn't work I could use it for my car or something.

One - the stuff smells like shit.

Two - after lubricating where the Glock needs it, it's like a new pistol. The slide moves so smoothly and has half the amount of resistance it did before I performed the greasing.

I've shot, cleaned, and lubed my gear for years. Why have I never done this?

It may smell bad, but damn if it doesn't work good. Next up, the AR!

Now why did I go and do that?

Yesterday was range time. I decided to not abuse my shoulder as much and left the M44 at home. It was a good move too as the 12 gauge was simply brutal. I did find some reduced recoil slugs that were quite a bit less painful, so I can practice with those next time.

Range time was good. I shot the Ruger for pistol time, but the battering of the shoulder took a toll on my accuracy so I only shot about 100 rounds before I stopped. It's still funny that at 15 yards I get ticked if I hit the 8 ring then watch people at 7 yards miss the target completely.

Afterwards, I had to stroll around the showroom floor and look at all the goodies I cannot afford. Shoot Straight (please, let me redesign your site!!!) had the Dan Wesson Bobtailed Commander in 10mm. Someone at CZ must have snuck into my house, made a mold of my hand, took brainwave readings to determine what would be the 'perfect' gun for me, then went and designed that thing. I don't know why, but in my hands it just feels perfect. The sights align naturally. Unfortunately, the $1300 price tag aligns with nothing in my wallet.

So, now the want factor has been increased x10 fold.

To add insult to injury, I picked up one of these and looked through it.

It was a Trijicon (who's website is down. Call me guys, I can help!). I don't know the exact model, but it was an ACOG with the donut reticle and some magnification (I'd assume 3.5x - 4x)

Holy shit, Batman, was that an amazing sight picture!! I can see why people using them have <1" groupings at 100 yards. Crystal clear optics and the reticle was razor sharp. It really makes me hate the blurry dot I've got to deal with right now. The want factor jumped by like x1,000,000 and the "I can afford $1,300 for a sight" factor dropped by at least twice that amount. I'd have to find some serious outside work to be able to scratch up enough change for one of those.

Seriously, that's one hell of an optic. I'm envious of the people who either can afford one or have wives that wouldn't castrate them if they dipped into the kiddie's college fund to afford one.

*Sigh*

There's homeless orphans starving in Lithuania and I'm wondering which bodily fluids / parts I could sell so I could see what I'm shooting better.

So, being that my pistol still reeks of solvent, I decided to test the rust removing abilities of Hoppe's #9 out on the reloading bench. My Wilson trimmer had started to show a bit of rust in places, and the Hoppe's & a wire brush cut through it like it was nothing more than dust. Now the trimmer, the calipers, the dies, and several rusting parts on the press are shiny and new looking. I gave them all a nice coat of oil to help keep that look for a while.

And of course, I smell like I just showered in the stuff.

Off to bed.

As many of you may or may not know, I have been diagnosed with a fatal case of a rare, Hawaiian disease - Iwannawinapara. This disease causes me to beg uncontrollably for you to go vote for me to win a trip to train with Para Ordnance's own Todd Jarrett at Blackwater. It is a horrible disease, which leaves me as nothing more than a shell of my former self, barely able to look at my own face in the mirror as I plead with you to click on this link and vote for Sharp as a Marble

By voting for me, you too can be entered to win a trip. Apparently, voting for other blogs won't qualify you for the prize. Mine is the only one that puts you in the drawing. Honestly! Don't let the other blogs fool you, you stand the best chance by choosing Sharp As A Marble (blog.robballen.com). Any other choice will probably disqualify you.

So, have your friends, their friends, and their friends' friends sign up while voting for me. In fact, bug your family and your family's friends to vote for me too.

And if that doesn't work, there's always the sad, pouty face...

Remember, every vote for another blog is like a vote for Obama.

The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. "Make it evil," he'd been told. "Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with.

Click to make images improbably large.

I think I found what I want to get engraved - UPDATED

A little known fact about me is that I'm a huge fan of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. All my computers and network things here at home are named after various characters and props. Zaphod, Marvin, Heart of Gold, etc.

So, I think I've finally nailed down what would not only look good on the lower receiver, but also have something meaningful in regards to me.

Made it myself, in vector format, so I should be able to convert it over to what the system needs.

Opinions? Thoughts?

UPDATE -

The more I think about it, the more the original phrase Don't Panic makes more sense. It's the actual phrase and, having a firearm, you shouldn't be panicking anyway. So here' another version, and probably the one I'll be going with.
