Guy goes into road rage and points a gun at a lady and her child. Definitely someone who doesn't need to be carrying around a pistol and should spend a good amount of time behind bars, of that you will get no argument from me. However, that's not the part of this article I want to highlight, but rather the hysterics behind what the man had instead of what the man did
"He started yelling and cursing many expletives, calling her a b--. He pointed a weapon at her. The gun he pulled out had a laser and had 15 rounds in the clip and one round in the chamber. As he pointed it at her he yelled, 'You're dead' and 'I'm going to get you.' He followed her for blocks and cut her off."
Ok, nothing terrible here. They are accurately describing the item used (except the word "bitch", they won't accurately describe that) and I'll even throw away the 'clip' reference as I've come to accept that the denotation has become so commonplace that it's a losing battle to correct people's terminology.
This is where is gets stucking fupid -
According to Chitwood, McNeal was wearing an empty waistband holster when stopped.A loaded semiautomatic handgun was recovered from the rear driver's side seat.Chitwood compared the clip of the handgun recovered to the .45-caliber issue used by police, noting it is twice the size. "It's more power than I carry," Chitwood said, reporting McNeal is licensed to carry the gun issued Jan. 31 by the county for self-defense purposes. "These are kill guns. The bullets are very, very powerful. They could cut through a car."

Give me a fucking break. Kill guns??? Cut through a car??? This is a .45 ACP, not a {random deity} damned 20mm. A lot of calibers will go through a car door, the 45 ACP isn't special in that regard. Heck, my 10mm supposedly can go through a door, the window (if rolled down) and still maintain adequate power.
However, this is pure hysteria posing as "Ooh. Look how menacing the gun itself is." The whole "twice the size" shtick is a crock too as it was probably a double stack magazine, nothing to scoff at. I use a double stack because I've shot at targets on the move before - you need all the rounds you can get. Real life ain't like the movies where the good guy places every shot perfectly or otherwise has 30 or 40 extra magazines in his pants pocket.
Besides, if the police are issues a .45 ACP with bullets that could rip cars in half, wouldn't that mean the cops themselves only carry "kill guns"?
UPDATE -
It looks like I was wrong. Here is photographic proof of what a 15 round .45 ACP with a laser can do
According to reports, they still had 3 rounds left in the magazine.

They had an interesting term for the unlawful taking of human life in that film: "Murder-kill-death."
