Once again, the media is focusing on the "scary" part. The title of the article should have been "Felon Charged for Possession of a Firearm and Unregistered Suppressor".

I'm still amazed that they'll charge you with a "possession of a hoax weapon of mass destruction" for having a piece of PVC with a handle on it. I mean, clearly the guy is a doofus and ought to be locked up, but come on, you can prosecute him pretty well for the other actual crimes.

God, hope the cops never stop over, I have a veritable arsenal, or perhaps armory, of hunks of plastic that look just like guns. I call them props since I do movie stuff. I also have all kinds of PVC pipe and black spray paint. I could be charged with "possession of a hoax weapon of mass destruction making materials!" Give it time.

You got road flares and wire in your trunk...you better be careful next time you get stopped.
