Sharp as a Marble

A little known fact about me is that I'm a huge fan of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. All my computers and network things here at home are named after various characters and props. Zaphod, Marvin, Heart of Gold, etc.

So, I think I've finally nailed down what would not only look good on the lower receiver, but also have something meaningful in regards to me.

Made it myself, in vector format, so I should be able to convert it over to what the system needs.

Opinions? Thoughts?

UPDATE -

The more I think about it, the more the original phrase Don't Panic makes more sense. It's the actual phrase and, having a firearm, you shouldn't be panicking anyway. So here' another version, and probably the one I'll be going with.

That's great. I thought about a graphic for mine, but I'm leaning towards combining two old ad slogans with my own perspective...

"When you care enough... Reach out and touch someone. At least twice, center mass."

Will you be getting the towel carrying hollowed out buttstock, too?

I love the 'mostly harmless' idea!!
If it was full-auto, you could have 'PANIC!' instead of 'auto' beside the selector..heh
How about something like,'another fine product of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation'?

(I hate it when that happens)

On a "W1n" scale of 1 to 10, that goes to 11.

You could also see if they'd just engrave the text "mostly harmless" on the side of your receiver that says ".223".

Anon, that's the only other thing I was thinking. While I like all the other suggestions, it's really between Panic and Don't Panic.

The more I think about it, the more I think "Don't Panic" would be better. A) It's more accurate to HHGTTG. B) The message makes more sense. I have a firearm, I don't need to panic.

Changing it now.

Awesome (from another Hitchhiker's Guide fanatic).

My favorite gun related Hitchhiker's (actually Restaurant at the End of the Universe) line:

"Make it evil," he'd been told. "Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with."

Yet another good quote. If Douglas Adams had only know how prophetic his words were, concerning AR rifles.... (what with all the spikes, prongs, and bafmodads covering the standard tacticool rifle.)

Yeah, I'd go with "Don't Panic" as well.

And be careful, don't wear those danger-sensitive sunglasses when shooting! They might black out on you at a crucial moment, just as they were designed to do!

I LIKE it! Instead of a towel, part-2 could be "Carry a Shootin-Mat."

# re: I think I found what I want to get engraved - UPDATED - B Smith

'There's a frood who really knows where his shooting mat is.'
Yeah, that works!!

#  Instead of a towel? - Hypnagogue

Rolled Out On: 6/5/2008 2:48 PM

A shooting mat is a shooting mat.
A towel is a shooting mat, a bench rest, a sling, a brass collection bag, and a soft sided gun case. It is also a hat, a jacket, a pillow, and a portable evaporative cooler. Finally, a towel can be used as a surrender flag, and as field expedient underwear if things go badly.

A shooting mat instead of a towel? Tourists!

HHGTTG...
Now there is a book that's hard to follow. I found my self rereading paragraphs several times, going back to the beggining of the book to see if I remembered the plot correctly, and I still barely comprehend it. The parts I could discern I really enjoyed; its a great book.

I agree that " DON'T PANIC" has much more cool-ality. I think you actually might be able to wrap a towel around the stock, and add "recoil absorber" to the list of its functions.

# Glad to hear it! - anon

Rolled Out On: 6/6/2008 12:24 PM

Glad to hear you're going with "Don't Panic!" (and for exactly the reasons I was thinking.) I have a "Don't Panic!" sticker on my HP28S (calculator) that was a reaction to my first test in college (MechEng). It's been there since 1987, and I feel no desire to remove it.
