One of the products on the floor of the NRA exposition that really caught my eyes was the Italy based Technoframes. They manufacture exquisite ammunition carriers from acrylic, aluminum, stainless steel, and even wood. And when I say exquisite, I mean Ferrari type beauty.
I spoke with their representative John Donovan and asked him about their product. It is clear that they aren't marketing to the every day ammo storage user as their boxes can run into 4 figures, but do focus on two distinct groups - show pieces and high end functional items.
The showroom gear is eye candy through and through. Stunning displays of ammunition encased in acrylic and the like is visually amazing. Mr. Donovan informed me that a lot of their sales are to manufacturers who really want to show off their ammunition or as coffee table displays for serious shooters.
My favorite was a carousel like 20mm holder. To extract a cartridge, you rotated the cylinder and the round, situated on top of a magnet, would pop right out the top.
Technoframes also made more utilitarian (and still beautiful) carriers for shooters. The wood & steel .357 magnum case had a soft, felt interior that gripped each round, preventing rattling or in case of upset, spillage. The case was heavy, solid, and when tipped upside down, continued to hold each round securely.
Check out the Flickr Gallery I've uploaded. And if you're in the generous mood, I'll accept these as gifts!
