When is the last time you saw Helmke do this?

"Hey! Look at these stats that prove my point! Oh, wait... Sorry, I was wrong."

You won't get honesty out of the anti side. They rely on bad data, distortions, and outright lies to get their points across. I think most gunnies are like myself - we're pro-gun because it's right, not because it's a cause. And striving to find the truth is more important than being right.

Thanks for the link. The source where I found the chart has always been a good one previously, but this was definitely a bad way to do math. I'm going to contact them about it and suggest they make sure they don't use questionable numbers to prove our point.

The thing is, stats almost always support gun ownership. Couple that with the concept that self-defense is a God-given right and that gun ownership is guaranteed by the Constitution and we've got an untrumpable hand.

Which, of course, why the antis make up stats and spread lies.

We have to be better than that, and I blew it by not checking these numbers before I posted them. Not the first time I've had a bit of egg on my face, and I doubt it will be the last, despite my best efforts to prevent it.

Murdoc, the fact that we own up to our mistakes makes us much more reliable than the VPC's and Brady Bunches of the world could ever dream of being.

It happens at work too. I'm the first to admit to my mistakes and people are more comfortable in trusting me since they know that if I screw up, I'm not going to hunker down and make the mistake worse.

You've done the right thing in my eyes, and it only helps our cause. Thank you.
