When reading a newspaper, anyone from the NRA is a lobbyist but anyone from The Brady Bunch is a "spokesperson"?

Because lobbyists can actually get legislation introduced and passed, while any old nut on a street corner can be a "spokesperson". I'd take it as a compliment.

If you really want to know, I'll send you the research articles I've turned up while working on my thesis.Of course, you'd have to actually WANT to read academic research articles...Short version: Most journalists have no experience with firearms except when someone guns down a store clerk or their wife. So, they automatically (and subconsciously) think firearms = bad. The problem comes from their stubborn resistance to learning about firearms. Instead of trying to improve at their jobs, the majority of journalists (and I was one for a decade) plug their ears and sing "lalalalalala" loudly.

Depending on the article you're noticing it in, mostly like the person really is a lobbyist with NRA as opposed to one of their spokespeople. :)

I was thinking about this earlier for some reason. It's just doublespeak. That's all. The anti-rights folks can't take that first step and admit THEY have a problem. It's rule #1:The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly - it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and overPerhaps it's more then that, the bradys can't counter the fact that they have no members and offer nothing to society besides criminal empowerment and a desire to force their will on others. The NRA has members, individuals, who think and function on their own without a top down cult-like mentality. Individuals aren't desired in the coming society. "Spokesperson" gives them the illusion of speaking for others and deceives those ignorant of the truth.

Same reason we're "nuts", but NARAL members are "advocates".

I hate to tell you guys, but it really is just because NRA is more likely to have their people who are actually on the ground (aka their lobbyists) speak than Brady which has no lobbyists - therefore no one actually on the ground.Every time I've seen them interview one of the spokespeople from NRA, they correctly call them spokespeople.Honestly, it's a good thing. It means we have people who are actually engaged with lawmakers and they don't.If you still believe otherwise, send/post some articles with names and I'll confirm it or debunk it.
