Sharp as a Marble

Just ordered the upper. Went with the grunt version with flip up front sight. Slick handguards to come later, just couldn't put them in the budget right now. In fact, I got a browbeating over the phone from the Mrs. for going so far over budget. Apparently, my wife is an expert telebrowbeater.

Tim from Ko-Tonics was a pleasure to talk to. I informed him that is was his outreach to the bloggers at GBR II that made the sale. No harm in rewarding good behavior.

Should get built some time next week then shipped off, so I assume in two weeks it'll show up.

And then I'll be vewwy, vewwy happy!

GBW, unfortunately anything above $12.87 is practically off limits to me right now. YMH makes some inexpensive handguards, but still $100+ is not in my reach right now.

Some day. Some day.

is your upper in 5.56 or did you get one of the better calibers such as 6.5 gren, or 6.8spc?

Big Brown Truck of Happiness just dropped off my 6.8 upper!!! Look out Bambi, here comes 115gr of joy.

Now if I can just find factory ammo around here. Someone had it, then dropped it. Coincidentally, i had just ordered my 6.8 dies from Midway when they called to say I had a package up front (if they only knew...). But with a new gun, i prefer factory ammo for the first few shots, as that removes one variable in the gun malfs.

Of course, i didn't get the sweet Ko-tonics upper like Robb...

Joe,

one of the good things about using factory ammo for the first 500 rounds (or so) is that you end up with 500 or so pre fire-formed brass that will just fit great in your chamber!

Factory ammo always for the first few shooting season, then you can start playing with the loads to get it to do what you want.

Robb.

While i think the 6.5gren is better then the 6.8SPC but both are great rounds good choice on ignoring the 5.56 poodle shooter.
