Sharp as a Marble

I admit I've been busier than paramedics treating fainting victims at an Obama rally, so I'm sorry the posting has been so sparse. I've got a major project at work that keeps changing every time I turn around but at least we've had our first build and it didn't completely crash. Unfortunately, in the corporate IT environment, they ask you how long a project should take. You tell them 6 months, and they say "Fantastic! I'll mark it on the calendar for next week". So you have to turn things in well ahead of when they're ready.

Second, so much is happening in the gun world that I've simply fallen behind. There are letters to write to my representatives and I'm cursing myself that I've not gotten those done. Microstamping and Ammunition Encoding on the national level and "assault rifle bans" here in my home state. All of these require my attention.

I'm still having a rather decent discussion with an anti over here. I have another comment waiting to be approved, but the discussion is calm and reasoned and I at least have Brandon admitting he can only "feel" his way through the issue. Someone near him needs to take him shooting.

The Mrs' laptop hard drive died a horrible, instant death yesterday. As in "Sorry, you can't even read from this drive any more" type failure. I just backed up her documents and mail on Saturday. Lucky me. So that took up a large chunk of my day yesterday.

However, there is one thing I've been working on that I'm really proud of. Some of you might not know it, but Sharp as a Marble's design is 100% mine. I did all the graphic work from the notebook paper, the "stains", the tape and torn paper rings on the header, etc. I'm quite adept with Photoshop and it's something I enjoy. So when I saw this idea for a logo for the American Conservative Party over at Traction Control, I had to run with it.

I am proud to say that it has been adopted by the ACP!

Bill quick never thought much when he coined the phrase "Blogosphere", so here's hoping that some day I can tell my kids that I designed the logo for a major political party!

Maybe what we need is a better “No Firearms” sign that better conveys the reality. I’ve been thinking of a modification of the Illegal aliens crossing sign (W-54) with some bullet holes/traces added. Wording: “Gun Free Zone, be prepared to run”

Someone with Photoshop could doubtless whip this up……

Sorta like when Al Gore invented the internet.

Just kidding. Nice job.

Do you have this as an Illustrator file? Would you like one? ;-) I've got time on my hands...
