Squeaky hears gunshots
It’s amazing, the sort of safety (real or imagined) that you feel when you know that it would take you approximately 10 seconds to obtain and aim your weapon, should someone succeed in getting past the 3 locks on the door.
She's actually in a better situation than I am most of the time. With children, one has to balance their continual safety with the threat. It's not every day someone tries to break into our house, but every day the girls are running around, getting into things.
Armed with that fact, the self defense weapons are put in places that they cannot reach (non-SD weapons are locked). So, that means if something happens I have to go retrieve the shotgun which will take much more than 10 seconds.
Depending on nothing in particular, occasionally I'll have the Glock on my side while at home, but it's not an every day thing. Besides, the Glock would only serve as cover fire as I retrieved Ugly Betty.
Stay safe, Squeaky.
