Day 76 - The waiting line to hell

Talked to Mom last night. Last week she went in for a full body scan and got some good news (finally) that there didn't appear to be any detectable cancer.

However, because the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, she starts chemotherapy next week; something she's definitely not looking forwards to.

It's especially rough since she lives alone. Part of me wants to take some more time off, but she didn't seem receptive to the idea. The other problem is that she needs to work to keep her insurance to pay for the treatments, but the treatments make working difficult. And she's utterly mortified about losing her hair.

Prayers are greatly appreciated.

tell her to check her insurance, sometimes they'll pay for a wig.

She's looking into it because the nice ones are expensive.

Me? I've already lost all my hair during my stint at Parris Island. Goofy Looking doesn't even begin to describe it. But, being married now it wouldn't bother me as much.

It would have to happen artificially though since I've got a rather thick head of hair.

Oh, and Robb? Tell her that chemo tends to be cumulative. The first couple of treatments may not be too bad. She can do it!

Does her employer have a long term disability option? That would allow her to stop working for a period of time, and retain the health insurance benefits.
