Sharp as a Marble

Greg has issued the challenge. Are you up to it?

In the spirit of AC's offer, I'm sponsoring an informal competition to see how many people we can (safely) introduce to guns. My main concern is education. I'm not trying to turn card-carrying members of the Brady Campaign into NRA advocates (although, I wouldn't complain.) We have to take it upon ourselves to teach people, one at a time if need be, that guns are not what movies, politicians, and anti-rights lobbyists portray them to be.

I'm going to try. Unfortunately I work in a fairly firearm hostile environment (Corporate America at its finest) and I don't have any friends outside of work who don't already shoot. Come to think about it, all of my neighbors are armed, which is a good feeling.

Oh, and that's a damned sexy logo, isn't it?

Er, well, I don't "shoot" per se, but the main issue for me is time/money, not personal interest or politics.

I work in an "interesting" environment. The fact I got a co-worker to go with me is a small miracle in and of itself. Then again, I do work around a fair number of gun owners (and more than I thought existed here).

I think I could get more with a little effort.

I have become reclusive as Hell, but even were that not the case, there is nobody I know of around here that doesn't shoot. Nobody to recruit. Even though I have no neighbors I can see from my home, I can hear them almost daily as they shoot.

And that is one great logo.

SA, that reminds me of a semi-funny story. A buddy of mine just got back from a dove hunting trip up in 'Bama. He was talking about the farm they were staying at and how they were a gajillion miles from anything. Everyone there hunted their food and their lives were unencumbered by hassles like those we have in the city.

And as my friend was talking about the animals and the fields and how dark it was (you can actually see stars!) he mentioned about how "crazy it was".

I said "No, crazy is working in a 6x6 box, not seeing the sunrise in the morning, hating every minute of your day until you go home."

I wish I wasn't so tied to my lifestyle. Maybe some day I can manage to give it up. In that respect, I am envious.

Even if only to see the stars at night.

Actually I've been thinking of a 9mm. Sorry but I want to go to Bill Jackson. You go with me, I'll buy the gun, you get the contest points. Thoughts?

I work at home by myself and don't have any friends. ;-) I have a hard enough time getting my wife to go shooting (like precisely zero) - she's not against it and she can shoot the X-ring out of a 15-yard target, but it's not her "thing."

That's similar to my situation DC. The Mrs is no longer against guns, doesn't care if I carry and no longer questions why I carry anywhere, but getting her to the range is nightmarish.

She just doesn't appear to like shooting. As long as she's pro-rights (and she is) I'm cool with that. I just wish she'd get comfortable enough to carry a firearm herself for protection, but I'm not pushing that issue.
