I like what he says, how he says it, and I get the feeling he speaks a little more from the heart than any of the other politicians running for the top job (excluding Ron Paul, who I truly believe he believes in every word that comes from his mouth).

Ron Paul may be THE ONLY LIVING CREATURE THAT CAN SAVE MANKIND but right now, Fred Thompson is the only living being who would get my vote*.

David E. Petzal - The Gun Nut:

So now the UN wants to disarm civilians? Where was the UN when the massacres in Rwanda occurred? What did the UN do to protect the victims of ethnic massacres in Bosnia? Disarming civilians under the guise of international human rights law will only lead to more such genocides by ensuring that civilians can never defend themselves! It would be funny if it weren’t so perverse.

Thankfully, the Framers of our Constitution recognized this potential peril to our liberty, and enshrined in our Second Amendment the more basic right of self-defense. The U.N. can say what it likes about other countries’ citizens’ possession of small arms being a violation of human rights law, but so long as the United States is a sovereign nation governed by its Constitution, its words will have no effect here. And I am glad for it.

Hat tip Bill Quick

*If Fred! doesn't get the nomination, Ron gets my vote. I won't give a shit if Hillary takes the office, at least you know where she stands. The other RINO POS's are statists in Elephant's clothing and will not get my vote, period.

I'd still vote for Giuliani over Hillary, but I really really hate voting for the "lesser of two evils". But at least that's not too hard of a concept to understand, seeing as how nothing, including the prince of darkness himself, is more evil than Hillary.

Interesting. I agree with you on Fred Thompson and am contemplating a write-in vote if he isn't nominated...

David Petzel is right on here, but he left a bad taste in my mouth over his support of Zumbo.

I would sooner vote for Hillary over Ron Paul.

At least Hillary understands and comprehends that there is a war on that needs to be won.

Well, voting for Ron Paul is pissing away a vote and will have the same effect - Hillary! takes the office since Paul will bleed off enough votes to prevent a RINO from winning (I honestly feel Fred could win, but no other candidates can survive the Paul Attack)

However, if Fred doesn't get the nod, enough votes to Paul will definitely let them know how pissed off we are, so giving him a vote won't stop Hillary! anyway and will still give the GOP a rude little message.

And he still won't get elected..

Fred, then Duncan Hunter, then Ron. That's my order of preference.

Ron, then Fred.

Yeah, Paul is wrong about the "war" but do you really think that if Congress _actually_ declares war that Paul would not prosecute said war? (The quotes around "war" are because there has _not_ been a declaration of war; the current fighting is being done at the discretion of the President. My copy of the u.S. Constitution doesn't exactly endorse this process.)

My thinking on the war is that it _does_ need to be fought; however, I think we can survive a recess in the war better than we will survive the continued attack on Liberty at home. Those in the Middle East and elsewhere that need killing are not going to be able to destroy us just because we take a break but I do think they will escalate the activities that make war on them necessary. They do enough of it and we _will_ get a Congress that declares war in the fashion that their job description _requires_.

Funny, I thought a bill passed by congress that says "We give our consent to send our military into a foreign country and depose it's gov't" was a declaration of war.

Oh, that's right. The act wasn't named "A Declaration of War" like the constitution (doesn't) demand.

Funny, I thought legislation passed by congress that says "We give our consent to send our military into a foreign country and depose it's gov't" pretty well declared a war.

Oh, that's right. The legislation wasn't named "A Declaration of War" like the constitution (doesn't) demand.
