So far, they don't even seem to care. They've sniffed him and that's about it. We even had him out a few minutes ago and the cats didn't even look at him (and he was a foot away).

Make sure she doesn't pick Gunner up by the tail. Guinea pig eyes fall out if you do that.

My sister killed my hamster as a kid when she dropped it, and it hit part of the table on the way down and broke its neck. I got two new ones to compensate, both male, according to my mother, which I'm sure is what the pet store guy told her. They had babies. So much for that. Hamsters really do eat their babies. Two survived until adulthood, though.

Guinea Pigs I think are a bit more hardy, but I believe they do taste pretty good on rye bread, with some mayonnaise, if you do get tired of them :)

It is indeed difficult to distinguish between hamsters and hamstressess. We wound up with a breeding pair the same way.

Easy solution for that... just get one :) One == One. Two == N.

Gunner is a good name though. I used to have a cat called "Coder" for the same reason.
