Over the years I've known people who insisted on carrying a pistol in condition three. They are often quite vocal in their belief that they will have time to chamber a round if things go wrong. This is only reinforced by the various idiots training people in the "Israeli Method". Great if it works, but planning on having both hands free when it all goes to hell is wishfull thinking, at best.

As to .22 rimfires, I agree that they often fail to go boom. I recently shot my Taurus version of the old kit-gun. Fun gun, but generally got one misfire out of a nine shot cylinder while shooting bulk-pack long rifles.
