Sorry to not conform to the stereotype of a Neanderthal gun nut, but while I understand this issue is heated between us rights supporters and the gun controllers, this is not the way you get your point across

Ron Dunston jagsoft5@aol.com

I hope someone kills you with a gun.

“Those who would sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither.”
-Benjamin Franklin.

First, jack-off, the quote is

They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Misquoting that shows your ignorance.

Second, you do not get your point across via thinly veiled threats. Until they physically come for your gun, even gun grabbers deserve peace. You have 4 boxes to use, and in this order

  1. Soap
  2. Ballot
  3. Jury
  4. Ammo

Gun controllers can either be made to see the light or they can't. However, the ones you really should care about are the fence sitters. By showing them over and over the truth, backed up with verifiable facts, I am confident the fence sitters will see it our way. Going off half cocked like this will only damage our cause.

Remember, Robyn Ringler will not post comments that damage her credibility. She will post shit like this because it falsely shows how gun owners are violent people when in all reality, it's the exception and not the rule.

Thanks a lot, dickhead.

My comment (which I doubt will get published)

Unfortunately, this comment will probably not be published, but even us gun rights activists find this kind of behavior abhorrent.

Nobody should ever be threatened like this over ideas. All the gunnies I associate with would rather debate the issue with words rather than with threats, so this jerk is not representative of me.

But to publish this comment would damage the stereotype you're trying to show here.

An AOL user. "nuff said.

I wonder how long it will be before Robyn shuts down comments completely?

Why should she bother?

To the outsider, what she writes must be correct because nobody contradicts her.

By moderating the comments and not displaying those that go against her, she gives the illusion that there is no argument or discussion to be had (since all comments she approves already agree with her).

Gun controllers thrive in an environment where they can control everything. It's in their nature. Add outside variables and their positions fall apart like the house of cards they are.

I wouldn't be suprised if he is one of them instead of one of us. This also allows Robyn to say "See, I allow comments! There is one right there!" Pathetic? Certainly. Would this be the most pathetic thing they've every done? Not even close.

I doubt it, Matt. There are plenty of true assholes on every side of every debate. Owning a firearm or supporting the 2nd doesn't automatically make people congenial.

It doesn't take much to get the fucknozzles to come out of the woodwork but it's still a cheap way to try to score points, especially when you "control" the conversation so tightly.

Via Robb of Sharp as a Marble. You have 4 boxes to use, and in this order: 1. Soap 2. Ballot 3. Jury 4. Ammo I'm grudgingly giving Robb credit; from what I know of his intellect, it's a cinch...

"plenty of true assholes on every side of every debate"

And some of 'em just express their 'assholism' with words, and some have guns to augment their expression, eh?

# re: Abhorrent behavior - Robb Allen

Rolled Out On: 8/20/2007 8:29 PM

Yup. Some assholes use guns when they can't think their way through an argument. Some use their fists. Some people can't think past insults and ad hominem attacks (*cough* you *cough*). Some hide behind "credentials" and appeals to authority.

What's your point?

# re: Abhorrent behavior - Culturologist

Rolled Out On: 8/20/2007 10:07 PM

Yeah, I didn't think you'd get it.

I ain't hiding ANYWHERE. I'm out in the world defending my ideas in a community of other people who have actually done their homework and working politically to protect children from you lot.

You just hang out here and whine about how nobody will let you post the uninformed drivel that is the limit of your thinking for the five thousandth time, and I'll go to work. Let's see who gets the most done.

Well, just looking at the number of states that now have "shall issue" laws, not to mention the recent court victory for handgun ownership in DC, and I guess I'd have to say that Mr. Robb Allen is getting far more done than Mr. Do-Nothing Culturologist.

This is the best part:
"I'm out in the world defending my ideas in a community of other people who have actually done their homework and working politically to protect children from you lot. "
You are defending your ideas in a community of other people who...[are already] working politically to protect children from us lot?
You can only defend your ideas to other people who already think the same way, huh? Wow, brave man. Your "successes" count as, well, pretty much nothing, then.

# re: Abhorrent behavior - Culturologista

Rolled Out On: 8/21/2007 7:11 AM

Oh, is Robb Allen doing all that work in all those states, and winning cases in the courts too? Lawdy, he must be REALLY busy, eh, genius?

It's at bottom your reading skills in English that count as nothing. Try reading my sentence again with the abilities of someone who minimally graduated from high school. Your parsing of my sentence only makes sense if I, like you, can't write or think coherently--I am the subject of both clauses, dumbass. ONly someone who doesn't understand English could imagine that the phrase "working politically to protect..." has the "community of other people" as its subject.

It's like trying to talk to cavemen. So no surprise that you pathetic creatures can't figure out why I don't want to see your illiterate absurdities on my blog.

I bet you hate illegal immigrants too because they ain't learned how to speak Amurkan yet, huh, bright eyes?

Why don't you do yourself a favor and get into a remedial English course, you sad little man.

Nice ad hominem attack, Alex. So far you've done nothing but attack your own imagination. You assume people are illiterate, have low education, store clerks, can't read English, yadda yadda yadda, then you beat up that straw man with fervor.

Here's a surprise for you then. I'm technically Hispanic (my father is Panamanian), am a former Marine, had enough training in electronics to qualify for a Bachelors (I just never completed it) am a computer programmer who's been working on the Internet since '94 (found something that paid better than soldering circuit boards!) and doing quite well for myself. I make enough money for my wife to stay at home with my two girls, donate to charity as I can, have done work to help abused children, and am generally considered the kind of guy who'd give you the shirt off his own back.

And yet you, Mr. "I'm not a student! Anyone could see that!" figure me and everyone else here to be the toothless redneck type, calling us such things as "cavemen" and "pathetic creatures".

Looks like you're the one who might need a refund on all that fancy education. It didn't seem to help much.

Now, if you'd like to debate gun ownership, then let's see some facts. I'm curious to know at what point does a lump of metal actually cause crime.

Should be fairly simple for your superior intellect.

I don't have to assume anything about people being unable to read English. You folks make your inabilities apparent in virtually everything you write here. Your cretinous friend made clear that he certainly is incapable of serious discussion in English by his ludicrous misreading of what I wrote. Are you saying that his reading of that sentence is plausible, other than as a result of a lack of familiarity with the rules of English? If so, then you are demonstrating that you are an ignorant moron, just like him.

# re: Abhorrent behavior - Robb Allen

Rolled Out On: 8/21/2007 7:52 AM

And you, Alex, make it virulently clear that you are incapable of anything approaching serious discussion because all you can do is insult others.

Funny that you continually say we're too stooopid to be reasoned with yet here you are, arguing with us.

Have fun, buddy. Some of us have to get flow charts ready for a meeting, then get back to real work. Then, tonight?

Range time!

Alex,

Do you have anything serious to add to the discussion or are ad hominems and insults all you have to offer? I thank you for posting messages like the ones you present. Your anger and vitriol do more for our side than half-a-dozen pro-rights blogs.

Most of us are far too decent to wish harm come to those who wish to leave us defenseless in the face of evil. If we were going to wish such a thing, it shouldn't be that they get shot, but something much more karmic, that they be attacked by someone bigger and stronger than them, intent on inflicting grievous bodily harm, who could have been deterred by a firearm.

"And some of 'em just express their 'assholism' with words, and some have guns to augment their expression, eh?"

True. We call those folks 'criminals' and advocate locking them up.

"....and working politically to protect children from you lot. "

Un-huh. Your looking forward to the day people with differing political outlooks are banned from contact from children? How fascist of you.
I gather from the other comments that you are supposed to be well educated? Why is it that some of those folks are so incapable of defending their viewpoints with facts and logic, preferring to go straight to the insults? How is it that you come to believe in something so strongly, but are incapable of making a coherent argument advancing your position? Oh well. Back to the cave.

Mr. Culturologist,
You need to take a remedial grammar course.
If you want your sentence parsed the way you wish, you need a comma. Otherwise, your verb goes to the most recently stated subject.
You need the comma to establish the parallel construction you intended.

Still, care to show the success of your work?

My response in defense of Mr. Allen is that he is also out in the world defending his views. He doesn't just defend his views among like-minded individuals, he advocates his philosophy to all comers. The success of his advocacy is clear in the number of states that have recently switched to "shall issue" concealed carry, the Supreme Court decision, etc. None could ever be ascribed to Mr. Allen specifically, no. But he is one of the multitude of people who realize the 2nd Amendment guarantees the right for individual citizens to bear arms. As this multitude expresses itself, it influences the judiciary and legislature of states and the nation, as is proper.

My education is doing quite well, by the way. I am fully fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese, have a BA and am working on my MA; my salary is in the low 6 figures; I work in a field that demands good writing skills and an ability to analyze swiftly and correctly.

As such, your assumptions are, alas, wrong. Making an ass out of you and umption, as the man says.
