Maybe it feels like fun, but as someone who suffers from borderline personality disorder, it is sterotypical that I would hate this so-called "carol."

Is it fun to poke fun at someone with a life-threatening illness? Reading things like this stings and hurts and makes me ashamed at being me.

If I don't take my meds every day, I run the risk of completely losing all sense reality. My mind doesn't function (chemically) properly for me to live a normal life. Just yesterday I had to double up on clonozepam simply so I could get through the night without breaking down.

And I make fun of it every chance I get.

I'm not ashamed of my issue with panic attacks any more than a diabetic should be ashamed at having to take insulin - which is to say 0. There is nothing to be ashamed about for anyone when you have a disability that is beyond your control.

My advice? Laugh it off. This wasn't about you.

Best of luck dealing with your issues, and as much as I hate to lose readers, I advise you not to pay too close attention to me as nothing is sacred here.

Take care

Oh goody... a handful of clonozepam and a Glock 29...
I feel safe. I think I'll be hiding under my desk if you need me.

I also brew my own beer, so there's that to consider.

The clonozepam doesn't impair your judgment like alcohol does, though. If anything, it focuses one's mind, preventing the random firing of thoughts that happen during panic attacks. While it does make you a little sleepy, you would have a hard time getting sidetracked by anything as the dullest shit becomes fascinating,

Just like when I drink, I don't handle firearms. If I have to double up on clonozepam, then I leave the guns alone as well. I understand safety and practice what I preach, so you can come out from under the desk (which, incidentally, wouldn't be much good against 10mm 150 gr. JHPs.)

I get it -- your response to my assertion that your offensive post is, well, offensive is "Lighten up."

I think this is really not so much about me as it is about you -- about your apparent inability to take someone's statement at face value. I didn't say you should take it down, or not write things like that. I said it isn't funny.

I said that when I read things like that it causes me pain.

I expected that you would hear that on its face, not as a criticism of you. It's not about YOU, you know, it's about the fact that stereotypes are a cheap form of humor; postings like this usually reflect the lack of character of an author. Though I know you didnt' write this (do you claim you did?!? Credit would be nice here, you know), you are guilty of abusing a group of people -- mentally ill people.

Do you think people who are taunted because of their religious beliefs should be told to lighten up? People who are sick with AIDs should be poked fun at? Why is it OK to taunt a person with a personality disorder?

I'll tell you why -- it isn't!

Kristine, who couldn't care less about your piddly blog but think you need to be called on things like this.

Happens to me all the time. I just shrug it off. Heck sometimes I even laugh.

Why is it OK to taunt a person with a personality disorder?

The same reason it's OK to laugh at Larry when Moe whacks him in the head with a hammer. Because other people's pain is a dark sense of humor. Humor in and of itself is a very, very dark concept. Generally, the subject of the joke is humiliated or hurt and we laugh about it (unless your idea of humor is knock knock jokes).

I'm willing to wager that 90% of what you find funny would insult someone in some specific way. The idea of jokes like these though are not to pick on any one individual but to poke at the stereotype itself. To take it personally is, well, tough.

Do you ever watch America's Funniest Home Videos? People in those hurt themselves, get embarrassed, or get pranks pulled on them and you laugh at that. Why is it ok to laugh at them, especially since you are laughing at the individual, but not ok to make light of a situation that happens to be relevant to you?

You cannot take offense at my post as I offered none. If you are offended, it is because of your own devices and not mine.

It is only immature humor that need a victim as the substance of his joke. There are 3 types of humor...
Childish, which always has a victim
Next, when we make fun of ourselves
and the highest (and funniest) is to laugh at the human condition

How immature is you attack on those who suffer so.

You act like I care what you think of me. I'm sorry I'm not all enlightened as you apparently are.

Of course, the 'human condition' includes being human which means it also includes the other two types of humor. So you pretty much shot your argument to hell.

I need to start adding to this list now that I see it ruffles the feathers of ignorant people.
