Sharp as a Marble

Words have consequences.

My two points. 1) I think Kerry misspoke. I think he meant to imply that Bush is dumb. The fact that he mangled up the 'joke' illustrates more about him than anything. I give him a pass on what he said mostly because I interpret his intent as a jab at Bush. The man is still an ass and not fit for day shift manager at Wendy's, much less POTUS.

2) It's not a photoshop job on that sign. The lettering, glare, highlight burns, etc. are all consistent with digital cameras. Plus, the high resolution image provided would have taken an inordinate amount of time to fudge. Most people (like me) simply use a smaller image then add in extra compression to mask any artifacts.

So, assuming it's real, this is why I'm all pissy about people not badmouthing the troops. It gets back to them, and fast. Today's interweb connected world gets information across the tubes faster and faster.

I'll be honest with you, I don't know how you can possibly take what Kerry said and turn that "joke" into anything that blasts Bush. He's just a prick son of a bitch who is OBVIOUSLY talking about the troops. Maybe he needs to get on TV and tell the joke the right way so we know what the hell he's talking about.

Mays, he was supposed to have said something along the lines of "You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq" from what I hear.

While a vile creature, I'm not sure he's that politically stupid.

His unwillingness to apologize to the troops, misunderstanding or not, is proof that he is indeed that politically stupid, IMHO.

Robb, the reaction displayed by those troops is the same type of knee-jerk attitude that is both displayed by and decried by the people who are running this country. Surely you don't believe that Kerry's statement, misspoke or not, is the reason for or justification for this picture.

Mays; why would he need to apologize to the troops? Bush hasn't. Cheney hasn't. Rumsfeld hasn't. Hastert, Rove, DeLay, Santorum, etc., etc., etc. These people haven't been accused of disparaging the troops, but they have arguably caused more pain to the troops and their families than a misspoken statement by someone who actually served, and by all verifiable accounts, served honorably and courageously.

Those I listed will never be able to make that claim. For the military or their political career.

BTW: Robb, the first comment on each post with comments doesn't have the yellow bar at the top. By design?

Vern, I see the yellow bar. What browser are you using?

As for the political stuff, sorry, but listing off a bunch of Republicans while ignoring all the Democrats who also voted for the war just doesn't ring solid for me. Besides the actions of others do not absolve Kerry. I believe in individualism and that you are responsible for your own actions, others be damned.

I've said before that I think Kerry served honorably as did Bush. What Kerry did afterwards was so dishonorable that it negated his service in my eyes. It's like Jeffery Dahmer doing a few months of community service doesn't erase that he was a monster (and no, I'm not comparing Kerry to Dahmer).

The fact is that what Kerry said, verbally, is that dumb people end up in the military. Now, his intent may have been something else (which I believe to be the case) so in my mind he needs not apologize for the comment but he should clarify since the wording was poor enough to give that impression. I assume there will eventually be a prepared statement that both clarifies and takes a stab at the Administration.

Personally, I'd like to fire the entire lot - Congress, Senate, and the Administration and start from scratch.

IE7. WinXP-x86-SP2.
It's just the first comment that doesn't have the yellow bar.

And you can help fire most of them in a few days...

What, by the way, is your opinion on the statement made by Boehner?

It appears as thought Kerry has felt that way about the troops for a VERY long time...
