So, yesterday I missed coming into work because my Jeep Wrangler had a mysterious loss of engine power. Turns out, the catalytic converter had busted and clogged the exhaust system. A couple of hundred dollars later, she’s back to the ‘Super Jeep’ status she was when I had the engine rebuilt and enhanced. Actually, the garage tuned her a bit better and she’s even faster / more powerful.
Thus ends the good news.
Later in the evening, I heard my cat Bueller doing a strange, loud, yodeling sound. My wife and I recognized that sound from a few years ago when he got a urinary duct blockage. A quick trip to the emergency vet and $550 later, it turns out he’s plugged up again.
Plus another $300+ for the regular vet. Sigh…
I love Boo. He’s a great cat, Georgia loves having him sleep on her bed, Irelyn enjoys chasing after him, but I’m afraid if this happens again there’s not much I can do because spending close to a grand on a cat isn’t something my family’s finances can handle very well.
The vet thinks it happened because he was eating the kitten food for Sloane, so we’re going to try a new food that both cats should be able to eat without causing problems. At $18 for a 6lb. bag, it might get expensive, so we’ll have to see how that goes. Otherwise we’ll have to purchase two types of food and somehow separate the two during feeding times.
So, cross your fingers for Boo and hope he pulls through. Right now he’s doing fine, but he’s drugged up and cathetered. They’ll remove it today and see if he does OK on his own.
