Sharp as a Marble
We are very honored here today to have an exclusive interview with an absolute ledgend
in the music video and dance industry, Paula Abdul's Mole. Welcome to Sharp as a
Marble, Mole.
Paula Abdul's Mole
Thank you. It's a pleasure to be here.
Sharp as a Marble
Before we get started, I just wanted to say, I absolutely adore
what you've done with the hair.
Paula Abdul's Mole
Thanks, that's very sweet of you. I had gotten tired of keeping it so short that I decided
to let it grow out. You know, for a change of pace and all.
Sharp as a Marble
Well, it is absolutely stunning. Very lusterous and full.
Paula Abdul's Mole
Oh, I'm blushing!
Sharp as a Marble
It's a good look for you. Now, let's discuss why you are here. I hear you've got a new
"tell all," book coming out. What's it called and what is it all about?
Paula Abdul's Mole
Well, there's no hiding that there has been a lot of friction between Paula and me lately. You
can't open up a single magazine and not see some story about our breakup. It's been a very challenging
time in my life and I just didn't feel my side of the story was getting out, so I decided to write a
book about it.
Sharp as a Marble
And that book is Mountain of a Molehill - My life as Paula Abdul's Mole?
Paula Abdul's Mole
Yes. It is a very in depth look at my role in Paula's rise to fame and fortune, her problems
with alcohol, and her attempt to have me "biopsied".
Sharp as a Marble
Biopsied?
Paula Abdul's Mole
Yes, she had convinced herself that I was cancerous and tried to have me removed.
Kept claiming it was self defense.
Sharp as a Marble
Now mole, there are many rumors that you allowed yourself to be in this abusive relationship,
that you continually made excuses about the Compound-W marks and the heavy makeup to conceal the,
as you called them, "accidental shaving nicks".
Paula Abdul's Mole
Well, that is true. It's all in the book, mind you, but I had to admit to myself that after our
creative differences on the "Cold Hearted Snake" video that I was just hanging on because of the
fame and fortune. I had grown accustomed to the lifestyle and subconciously made excuses all along.
I put up with the abuse and told myself that it would get better, that Paula's career would take off
again, and that things between us would be like in the old days.
However, when Simon fuller approached me to possibly take over her spot on American Idol, things
just turned nasty and that's when I decided to walk out.
Sharp as a Marble
I see. Paula, of course, has a different take on events than you do. Let's listen to a short clip that
Paula did for us before the show.
Sheesh lyin'. We would
all be shitting aroung and shheed all be like uppity and {censored}. *Hic* Then Shimon, that limey {censored} was all
like 'Paula, yoush should be nisher *hic* and {censored} and then I shaid "If you so {censored} think she can do
Idolican America better than me, go for it bitchesh. After that everything gotsh
kinda all blurry
I'm not exactly sure what she was saying there, but her versions of events definitely differ from yours.
Paula Abdul's Mole
Her versions of reality differ from everyone else's. In my book I talk about her demons and
alcohol.
Sharp as a Marble
Well, it definitely seems to be a good book, and so far I've not been able to put it down. However, in your
book you do allude to your relationship with
John Bolton's Straight
Talking Mustache - Regis. The tabloids seem to have a different take on it than you do.
Paula Abdul's Mole
Regis and I were just friends. Underneath the bristles is a caring, warm soul, but he just wasn't
the type of lip rug I could find myself in an intimate relationship with. You'll just have to read
the rest to see, I guess.
Sharp as a Marble
Well, I guess I will! Mole, it's been great having you on Sharp as a Marble, and I wish you the best
of luck with your new book, and your new life.
Paula Abdul's Mole
Thank you. I enjoyed being here.
Sharp as a Marble
And that's all the time we have here today folks. Join us next time for a hard hitting
interview with myself where I ask myself tough questions and avoid answering them.
