The inherent violence in today's preschool toys

So for Christmas my daughter got Word Whammer™ Fridge Phonics™ Set from Leapfrog. Basically it’s a set of letter magnets and a magnetic box that you can put 3 of the letters in to spell various words. One of the modes is a game where the voice tells you to spell a word and you try to find the letters and put them in the right order.

The very first word it asked to spell?

WAR

Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

No sweat, she was holding it backwards.
The word was RAW.

We got our little 'uns a leapfrog gizmo that you magnet onto the fridge. it has space for one letter, and when you put each letter in and press it, it sings a little song with the name of the letter and the sound it makes..... Pretty cool eh? - OK, apart from the fact that the first one we had got about 4 of the letters wrong -Put in the C and it says - I says I and I says i blah blah blah. How's that goion gto help my children learn the alphabet without complete confusion. We took it back and swapped it for one that worked PDQ, befre the boys got a hold of it!

We have that one too and the letters from it work in the Word Whammer. The WW comes with an extended alphabet (multiples of certain letters like E and S) plus the letters from the original one.

We have approximately 1/4 of a square inch of free space on the fridge now.
