That little kids suddenly reach an age where they can no longer smile normally for a picture and instead end up looking like something straight out of a psycho movie?

Don't ask them to smile. Get them talking so that they forget about the camera. Evenutally, they get bored with the camera, and after about 500 pictures, you get one that's halfway decent! Did I mention using a digital camera? Smaller, the better...

Rob, the size of the camera is irrelevant to Georgia since I'm a photographer and she's simply used to me taking hundreds of pictures of her anyway (last count, ~3800 pictures total). And my Nikon D2H is as far from small as it can be so I'm sure that doesn't help.
