We all know about Chickenhawks – those people who support war but aren’t willing to walk down to the recruiter’s office and sign up! The cowards. How dare someone want somebody else to do the dirty work for them! Well, they’re not alone! Here is a list of other cowards and their hypocracy.

ChickenCops – People who call 911 expecting the police to protect them when they’re too scared to join the force themselves!!! This can also apply to the unreasonable request that someone douse the flames engulfing your house if you’ve never shared a seat with a dalmation on the way to a 3 alarm inferno yourself.

ChickenJanitors – People who expect their toilets to be clean but can’t lower themselves to quit their high paying jobs to do it!

ChickenPOTUS – Individuals who kvetch about the president and don’t have the fortitude to run for the office themselves!

ChickenCarnivores – Cowards who are too scared to raise and slaughter their own animals yet expect steak / chicken / pork for dinner.

ChickenLegals – Unsavory persons who think they have the right to sue others even though they themselves cannot bring themselves to go to law school.

ChickenG@m3rs – Luddites who think they should be allowed to play the latest Grand Theft Auto without actually learning to program a computer.

ChickenMcYourWays – Those who want fries with that, but can’t be bothered to put on a paper hat and a name tag and do it themselves.

ChickenChairtables – People who complain about the plight of the poor who have never forced their kids to live in a cardboard box.

ChickenJailersNot willing to put your newborn in the klink? Then how can you say it’s fair to put serial rapists in there?

When will people learn that you cannot support something you wouldn’t make your grandmother do at gunpoint? When will these people learn perspective?????

Or am I being silly?

Nicely done. Silly, yes. But as valid as the chickenhawk canard.

How about ChickenBloggers -- people who feel that blog authors are obligated to provide them with content conforming to their own personal worldview, but who are unwilling to take the time and effort to write for a blog of their own.

I had thought against posting this week's Jambalaya and leaving the London post up over the weekend. But I think it's important that we continue on with our daily lives and not let the terrorists disrupt them anymore than they...

I always thought ChickenHawks are those who START wars, or clamor for war. That would make your analogy not work so well.

In that situation, a ChickenCop is one who calls 911 to protect them from the homeowner waving a gun at them after the breaking in the homeowner's house.

Not quite. What Chickenhawk infers is that if you request Action X take place, you must be the one to perform X.

A better Cop analogy would be the house down at the end of your street. Unlike all the other houses, this one is run down and there are always multiple cars there with people coming in and out at all hours of the day. The sherrif's office has multiple reports of drug deals going down, so you initiate a request that the police do something about it even though you have not served on the police force. Asking for protection from those who willingly provide it is not chicken.

As someone who served in the Marines, the logic is lost on me. I did serve, and have still been called a Chickenhawk. Over at Q&O, McQ is quite the Vet and gets labelled as such. It just seems more like ad hominem attacks instead of reasoned debates (like poking fun at semantics is reasonable debate eh? ;)

I get the same thing--being called a Chickenhawk--despite my service as well, and AFTER it's been pointed out to them. They DON'T CARE if we've served, we're just uneducated red-staters duped into service by The Man because we're from the underclass. Of course they know better than we do; they're intellectuals; actual service doesn't mean you have the correct perspective, to them.
But then again, to them I'm not "really" a veteran, I'm just a woman who served in the Air Force.
If you ask me, they're a bunch of chickenpols. They have all kinds of opinions on how the country should be run, but most of them haven't ever served in a policy-making position. What's the f'n difference?

You know, I seem to remember the term "chickenhawk" being used to describe predatory homosexual pedophiles, prior to all the "debate" about the Iraq war. Now the term is thrown around so loosely, it's lost any and all meaning. This past Monday I was informed that no one in the current administration had ever served in any armed force. Nevermind the facts, those who feel the need to call people 'chickenhawks' can't be bothered with those sorts of things.
