Hair is an interesting property of mine. My head is thick and full and in my 30’s there’s not a single grey one up there. My father is the same way. He’s in his late 50’s and very few grey hairs in his scalp. Since I didn’t get male pattern baldness from my mother, I feel confident my hair isn’t going anywhere and will probably stay primarily dark brown throughout my life.
Now you would think a Hispanic guy with massive amounts of hair on his head would look like a Persian rug got up and walked out of the Ethan Allen showroom if he were to take off his shirt, but alas, if you need a text-book picture of ‘smooth chested’, then I’m your man.
So a week went by that I didn’t bother to shave. I can survive about 3 days before it becomes noticeable. At 7, I look like Grizzly Adams. And in a fit of idiocy I’ve decided to grow a beard. While most men take a week to do so, I take a week just to think about it. So I’ve got a good amount of scruff growing on my face right now. Most high schoolers have me beat, but it’s a start.
Damn it itches.
And, like father like son, some of it is grey.
Now how the hell does that work? What imaginary line on my head has to be crossed before hair follicles can lose their pigment? And why is it when I shave the back of my head, in 1 week it’s pretty much grown back but my chin takes its own sweet time?
