Yeah, unfortunately I've barely got enough time to work on Subtext much less learn the whole code structure of something new.

Dude, it's open source. If you don't like how it works, patch it. I hack GNU packages all the time to mitigate the off-pissage factor. I'm working on a mod so that gmplayer doesn't give me shit if it can't find its first choice codec when I tell it to start up in full screen mode.
