Darwin might be right. While I have had a hard time understanding how a complex system can spontaneously mutate from a simpler system and not only function without killing the host but also be a base genetic mutation that is passed on, it appears there is conclusive, verifiable proof this is the case.
Take the dozen or so pens that I procure every few weeks. While this mass of molecules may appear to be lifeless they can and do spontaneously sprout legs and walk off in search of environments that are more hospitable to them. This is the only explanation I can come up with why, every time I need a pen, there isn’t one despite the fact I grab them by the handfuls and lock them away in a drawer.
