Guest Blogger PalpatineAnother exiting day here at Sharp as a Marble as we have an exclusive guest blogger, Emperor Palpatine from the planet Naboo.

SaaM: Thank you Emperor for blogging here today. I apologize for the mix up earlier this morning. I didn't realize it would be so difficult to find a taxi at that hour

Palpatine: You will pay the price for your lack of vision.

SaaM: Errrr...Ok. Well, then I guess I'll let you begin.

Palpatine: Good. I can feel your anger. Much like that of my new apprentice, a recent commenter to this pathetic blog of yours, Jeremt. He shows a true calling for the Dark Side™. Listen to his words and watch as his journey is completed.

One party is for the wealthy, elite corporate CEOs. It is for the destruction of the power of the working man and is for oppressing those who they feel does not fit their "survival of the fittest" lifestyle. They are the party that caused the Great Depression and are shoving us into another one by piling up debt like we have never seen before. They are the party that are trying to destroy our saftey net of programs created by their opposition.

Good. use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you. Nothing turns one faster towards the Dark Side™ than to demonize others. Your desire to take the moral high ground has blinded you from any semblance of truth. Let yourself believe that half of the populace of the country is out to destroy you. It makes it so much easier to justify destroying them. Disregard the fact that the majority of Fortune 500 CEO’s are Democrats. Forget billionaires like Soros. Pretend they are the working class!

The other party is the party of the people, the blue collared, working man. They are the party of strong Foreign policy, despite what their opposition says. They won both world wars and also toppled many other military conflicts. This party is the party that created Social Security, Welfare, Medicare, etc. This is the party that places the priorites of the country and people above thier special interests and greedy agendas.

Oh no, my young Commenter. You will find that it is you who are mistaken about a great many things. For starters, you are quite sure of yourself that all of America’s woes are caused by a single party while the other party has been nothing but sunshine and butterflies. I cannot stand butterflies. Wretched flying worms.

Your hate has made you powerful. So powerful you've deceived yourself. Even the Emperor would like to learn that trick. Hate makes a powerful set of blinders. If you think that the Democratic party places the needs of others above their own agendas, then you are quite possibly beyond the help of even the Sith. Both parties have politicians. Politicians place electability beyond anything they wish to do for their constituents. How do you think I built an Empire? By using politicians who claimed to want to help others. I then used the trust they garnered to eradicate the senate. I do miss the senatorial parties, though.

First, of course, I had to subdue the masses. I ensured that people could not survive without the government. I made the poor reliant on welfare checks instead of teaching them to take care of themselves. I fooled the elderly into thinking Social Security was a retirement plan. I even got many people believing that Medicare was ‘free medical care’ and forced the middle class to pay for it, all the while pretending that the rich weren’t paying their ‘fair share’. How sinister it was for me to get people to believe that those who generated wealth for others through hard work were even more obliged to have to work harder for those who didn’t want to. After that, I admit the whole thing went faster than I thought.

Then came the Republicans. Spineless. Hypocritical. If they actually went through with what they stood for, smaller government, lower taxes, strict adherence to the Constitution, my plans would have been foiled. Instead, I gave them power, and like the Democrats of old, the power corrupted them. Instead of sticking to their principles, they started strutting around pretending they could do no wrong. They started passing laws based on emotion rather than logic. After that, my rise to power was practically automatic.

However, my young apprentice, keep practicing your self deception and continue to follow a party rather than your own morals. Become a true believer, unable to see the corruption where it lies.

As for the Emperor, it’s time for me to ‘drop off the wookie at the cantina’ then go get a facial. The Emperor’s soft, swollen skin is an important asset.

Bah, it's just a title. Plus I had to hardcode something since my site's performance would suffer if I used TTLB's javascript and his site went down, as it was wont to do.

Maybe it's time to change it to something like Ditzy Dungbeetle.
