My wife and I were walking our then 2.5 year old into Old Navy when he tripped on a crack and very adult-like uttered "$hit"! A girl a short distance away turned to her mother and said "Did you hear what that little boy said!" I thought my wife was going to die of embarrassment.

On another occasion, my boss had given me a kite to give to my son. While out playing with the kite I dutifuly explained that Mr. Eddie had given him this gift and that he should thank him next time he sees him. To which my son said "Mr. Eddie's not a sumbich." Shocked, I demanded to know what he had just said but he would not repeat it and we have yet to figure out where he got that particular phrase.

Everytime our 2 ½ year old spends anytime with my sister-in-law, we have to silently ignore the S word until she stops saying it. Of course we're just praying that she nevers says it in church. My daughter was born in Sept. 02, when was yours?

Little sponges, dribbling things. I lived in Calif. when the kids were little, so it's pretty understandable that our oldest would play car by honking the horn and shouting, "Beep! Beep! Move it, @sshole!" just like a certain parent who shall remain nameless. My sister took it upon herself to change it to a game in which they both shouted "Move it, fella!" instead of the more specific vernacular. The kid preferred her version, go figure. Most Californians would consider that I was properly preparing the child for life in society.
