Sharp as a Marble

There's several websites that allow you to enter in misheard lyrics (one of the more popular ones is KissThisGuy.com). Just thought I'd share one that I always thought was funny.

From Hey Nineteen by Steely Dan

Actual Lyrics: The Cuervo Gold, the fine Columbian

What I heard: The Cuervo Gold, The pine cones run the earth.

As a kid, I must have had some sort of tragic event with a conifer.

Feel free to discuss your own misheard lyrics.

When my brother used to play the Who, my sister told me that they were saying "it's a lemon in a box, it's a pudding."

As a kid, I heard this (of course not knowing what it meant) during the Hallelujah Chorus on Easter:

Actual Lyrics: "For the Lord God omnipotent reigneth..."

Heard Lyrics: "For the Lord God of impotence reigneth..."

[looks around...sees more responses than when he did the same thing on his own blog, sighs, and decides to play anyway]
I could have sworn the Bee Gees were singing about a "Bald-Headed Woman" (rather than, "More than a woman"). And what did the Beatles think was songworthy about a "He's a Black Writer" (as opposed to "Paperback Writer)?

That totally doesn't include all the stuff that I just didn't get at all, and would just mumble through until I got back to the stuff I could understand....(Yeah, I sing along: want to make something of it?)

Ha! This is great. I know I've had that happen to me many times... but one that sticks out to me from my childhood is from Bryan Adams song "Somebody":

Actual lyrics:
I need somebody
Somebody like you
Everybody needs somebody

What I heard and sang:
I need somebody
Somebody like you
Everybody's Easter bunny

My dad heard me singing that and laughed his head off. I think that's why it sticks out in my memory. :) Funny stuff.
