So I went to the range yesterday, and it was good. My friend and I got to shoot in the nicer part of the range which is much better lit.
I took my Dan Wesson .357 Magnum and my .22 rifle, My friend brought his shotgun, .22, and his Sig 226 in .357 Sig configuration. One day when he's not looking, I'm taking that damn thing!
I love my .22. Not only is it the meanest looking .22 around (I'll post a picture later when the Mrs. is awake and I can get to it) but all the way down the range I can still get groupings in the size of a half dollar. I need to look into shooting something a wee bit more powerful to see if I'm just as accurate.
The .357 experience was ok, but not great. I had had a tad bit too much coffee in the morning and had a case of the shakes so, while I hit the target, it wasn't in the grouping that I'm used to. Granted, with my gun, if I don't hit you with the round, I'm going to flame broil your ass.
I also fired the shotgun, something I've not done in years. My poor, poor shoulder! I really need to get one for the homestead so that Mrs. Marble doesn't have to worry about aiming as much.
All in all, it wasn't a bad trip. I mean really, is there any such thing as a bad day at the gun range? I don't specifically go there to try to get dime sized groupings at 75 yards, I really go to make sure I can hit center mass and that I keep in practice enough to prevent flinching. .357 Magnums are notorious for causing flinching!
I have a goal for next year and that is to find some super anti-gun nut and take them to the range. I also need to get my wife there a bit more. I also have the goal of getting myself my own Sig 226 (or 229, I'm not picky), but since my tip jar doesn't seem to magically fill itself up, I'm afraid that might just be a pipe dream!
