Naomi Kline of The Nation lets it all loose with this steaming pile

But the zealots in Bush's White House are neither insane nor stupid nor particularly shady. Rather, they openly serve the interests of the corporations that put them in office with bloody-minded efficiency. Their boldness stems not from the fact that they are a new breed of zealot but that the old breed finds itself in a newly unconstrained political climate.

Why is it always those faceless, souless corporations when it comes to Republicans, but when many on the left talk about Soros or Heinz-French's-Del Monte-Kerry that little niggling fact is never mentioned? Soros and Heinz-Kerry both made their money from those same evil corporations that so many like to bemoan.

I personally have 100% ownership of a corporation. I am the sole shareholder for my company. I am not nameless or faceless. I do not have a heart of evil. And if you want to say "Well, it's big corporations" then please define big. Use concrete terms such as numbers of employees, shareholders, etc. Do not use vague terms such as 'many' or 'large'.

If it weren't for evil corporations, you wouldn't be reading this on your computer right now. You wouldn't have a television or be able to watch a movie. Air conditioning? Fughettabout it.

Or did I miss the part of my incorporation papers that gave the devil majority shareholder status of my soul?

You're really missing the point. Corporations are not evil Its a matter of money and power and corporations seem to be the vehicle. A "corporation" like Haliburton for example. you know a billion dollar+ corporation that can offer money in exchange for government breaks and shady deals. i dont think your company can swing something like that, whether you were "evil" or not. Do you really need a definition of what "BIG" is. OK how bout Enron. now thats big, not Earl's heating and cooling Inc.
And by the way, corporations were designed to be faceless and souless entities. you may not be faceless but the corporation is.
A corporation is a separate legal entity having its own rights, privileges, and liabilities distinct from those of its members.

So George Soros is evil? He is using his money for political influence. I'd dare say Heinz-Kerry is using HER money for political gain.

You failed to give quantative results and resorted to words in quote ("BIG"). The company I have my primary job through is near 1 Billion, does that quantify evil?

You're missing the main point that the corporation shouldn't be the target of your ire, rather the humans that run them and do these illegal things. And if you're going to peg the rich as the root of all evil, don't forget to take Soros with you.

Yes, that in fact was my point. It's the humans that run the corporations that can become corrupt and power mad. I didnt say that corporations in and of themselves were evil. However in this country what is the primary vehicle to promote the excessive greed and thirst for power? the corporation imo. It is a vessel through which men and women can gain great power and wield it to propagate their interests.

And no i'm not saying that the revenue of a company (1 billion+) quatifies evil. I felt that the original post was arguing that the general consensus of evil was a corporation which obviousy is not true. But with money and power men are easily corrupted. Its all around us in obvious view. wouldn't you agree?
