Glenn isn't a journalist trying to be objective, I will grant him that, but he blows it here when he says
I TOLD YOU SO: The Federal Marriage Amendment failed miserably yesterday, and there's reason to believe that it's backfiring on its sponsors.
From my understanding, the vote was 48-50 (12 short of the needed 60). That's not miserable. Miserable would be 8-90. That's close, if you ask me.
I think what Glenn is doing here is common amongst all of us. When you want something to be true, it's much easier to not realize you're adding bias in your writings. The other day, when discussing abortion, I caught myself using the word murder. Accusing people of being murderers isn't cohesive to amicable discussion and was not my point. Using strong words may add emphasis to your view, but it can also turn around and bite you in the ass.
Glenn wants the world to accept gay marriage. He doesn't try to hide his view, and I respect him a lot for that, but here he works in a little Moore-ism by stating a fact using emotional words to add impact that isn't really there.
Be wary of anyone using the phrase "most people" (including me, please feel free to point out my hypocrisy as I've said, it's difficult to see) as it's a safe bet to assume they haven't sampled enough of the population to constitute a majority of opinions.
