Interesting. I had occasion to try a Saiga .308 on a couple of occasions a few years ago. It was (a) fun to shoot, (b) a brass-eater, and (c) I would guess about as accurate as the VEPR is described as being. I'm a below average shot with a rifle, so I'm extrapolating from my experience to what a better shooter could do.
