Wow, that simply does not instill a lot of confidence in me Geekdom Service packs can be scary. Here's hoping my Visual Studio works afterwards! Comments Gregory Morris says: on 6/26/2007 at 9:37 AM Good luck with that. Installing VS itself can take all day, if you don't have a fast machine. It boggles my mind that a service pack should take as long. Robb Allen says: on 6/26/2007 at 9:44 AM Worst part? Apparently I've already done this. For some odd reason though, I can't open up Web Application Projects and the SP was supposed to take care of that. Now I'm puzzled. And I can't work on Subtext. Gregory Morris says: on 6/26/2007 at 11:53 AM Yeah, VS loves to break for no good reason. I use it for work because I have to... but give me vi/emacs/eclipse (in that order) any day :) Billy Hollis says: on 6/26/2007 at 3:18 PM Well, I got a dialog right after I installed Vista that was a lot worse. I started a bulk copy of about 5 GB overnight to the new machine off of a USB hard disk. In the morning, I got up to a dialog that said "About 86 days and 11 hours remaining". Turned out the USB driver had a bug that caused extreme slowdowns after hibernation. It's all fixed now, fortunately. But I have a screen capture of that dialog just to remind me of the experience.
