Well, that was disappointing Humor , Geekdom I was all excited when I saw you could download printable Dyson Spheres. Then I saw it was a part for a vacuum… Comments Tango says: on 3/29/2013 at 5:08 PM So, would the printer that can print a Dyson sphere be the size of the Deathstar itself? Rob says: on 3/29/2013 at 8:23 PM Tango: It would have to be bigger than that. A Dyson Sphere encases an entire star, which is a huge amount of volume. The Death Star was about the size of a moon. Even if it were only printing parts, you'd still need a much larger one if you want it done within a millennia or two. Randall says: on 3/30/2013 at 12:04 AM Rob,I was more enamored with Larry Niven's Ring World variation of the Dyson Sphere. It is a more realistic distribution of available solar system natural resources. Holy crap, we have reached geek critical mass!Randall AuricTech says: on 3/30/2013 at 7:21 PM I would settle for a scale model of a Dyson Sphere, as long as it included a working net-energy-producing scale model fusion reactor.
