Tomorrow morning, I get a lovely endoscopy! I have horrific heartburn (one of the many joys of getting old) and they want to look around and make sure there isn’t any damage happening as well as make sure nothing nasty is growing in there. Should be TONS of fun. Sorry, can’t live blog the event. Apparently I’ll be knocked out cold during the procedure. I’ll let you know if I make it. If I don’t, well, you’ve all been great readers!

Right now, the sound of the air conditioning in the office is a lovely shade of blue to which the elves who live in my ears are eating like a buffet. So, if any blogging gets done today, I highly recommend you save it for the future to make fun of me with.\ Now if you’ll excuse me, this pencil needs cha-cha  pointers.

A few weeks ago, all within the course of a weekend, my wife found out her father had been diagnosed with cancer, her aunt had a heart attack, and her doctor called to say her recent tests required a follow up visit. The stress level was beyond comprehension, to say the least. For her aunt, a stint from her previous heart attack had become damaged and required repair. It was minimal, and she was in and out of the hospital in 3 days. For my wife, further tests indicated no issues (she was having...

Last year, I was doing really well, physically. I was at the Y at least 2 nights a week, ran regularly and was at the point where I could give my daughters piggy back rides until they were tired. I’ve never really had to worry about my weight, I can practically eat anything I want and my weight stayed pretty constant. The heaviest I’ve ever weighed was 218, and even then at 6’3”, that’s not ‘heavy’. Then, the tendonitis hit. My right forearm was shot. I couldn’t even lift a pistol to shoot...

Because my head is still attached. Last night I dreamt I woke up at 3AM and, being that I was at a gun blogger conference where everyone was sharing what appeared to be barracks style sleeping arrangements, I tapped Tam and told her about a blog post I made. She got up, linked to my post from her blog then went back to sleep. I then woke up in a cold sweat* thinking “OMG. I just woke Tam up to link whore myself. It’s depressing to realize I simply cannot go to a Super Bowl party and eat a little of everything that people brought and expect to feel OK the next day. Used to be, drinking too much made me feel like crap the next day, but I rarely drink anymore and when I do, like last night, it’s a single beer. All night and all morning the concept of installing a lap belt onto the toilet seems like a financially sound idea.

The life of a full-time-employee / contractor is interesting. I work for my employer, they whore contract me out to other places. The first place I started working at lasted 20+ months which was a bit long for me, but today I start a new contract that’s only slated for 3 months. The big difference with this contract is that I should be able to work remotely for the majority of the time. Because today I’ve left mine at home. First day in months I’ve gone without the brace for my tendonitis. It’s a bit painful, but not terrible. Dry firing hasn’t been agonizing lately, so here’s hoping I’m on the mend and can shoot in November. In case you missed it, I’ve been diagnosed with tendonitis in my right arm which makes gripping anything very, very painful. One of the things I cannot do is grip a firearm very well for any period of time. In a self-defense situation I think I’d be fine, but the thought of trying to run several courses of fire scares me. Besides, the less I can annoy the tendons, the shorter the healing time. This is a shitty injury to have as a shooter. It effectively puts me out of the game, and may continue...

Oddly, as horrific as depression is, I'm still not receiving commands from my gun collection to fellate a muzzle and play fast and loose with the Four Rules. My mini-arsenal is so disappointing. In an amazing twist of irony, the same brain that decided life sucks and that I should just mope around like an angst ridden teenager apparently has decided that a...

So I just had a tooth fixed, finally, which is of great relief to myself. I literally sheared a tooth on the side and the little crack would collect food like a squirrel harvesting nuts for the winter. It sucked having to tote around floss all the time. Anywho, today was the day to get it fixed. My appt. was at 5, which was nice since I didn't have to take any time off and didn't have to rush all the way home (I work 45 minutes away from where I live). I didn't get taken back until 5:45, but...

Gah! Just weighed myself at Publix. I'm 3 pounds short of my all time record of 218 pounds. Still, being 6'3", 215 isn't a bad weight. But it's kind of scary from the 205 I was before Thanksgiving.

So, I'm relaxing in the ladies' room, 'dropping off some friends at the community pool' when I hear the main door slam open, followed by hurried footsteps. I know this sound. It is the sound of a man who is five seconds from needing a shower and a clean set of boxers. Oddly, mixed in with the sounds of discomfort and unbuckling pants is a slight, beeping noise. A familiar sound. One of a cellphone dialing a number. The man in stall #1 actually made a phone call during a bout of explosive...

Which I'm sure all of you will be very happy about. But this is more due to the fact that (a) they don't have WiFi at the doc's office and (b) even if they did it would require a laptop. And since my lap will be a little inconvenient place to put anything during the procedure..... Despair not, though. I'll keep mental notes for later posting. *This post actually forced me to make a new category – TMI. Enjoy!

I love my penis. We've been through a lot together. We’ve had our ups and downs, and being that his eyesight isn’t as good as mine, we’ve had quite a few disagreements as to exactly where he should venture. I regret that he’s managed to slip me a beer or two and win some of those arguments. Anyway, my wife and I seem to be blessed with a high degree of fertility. After my second daughter, it has come to my attention that it would be best if my penis wasn’t quite...
