But you’ve heard it all before. So, I’ll just keep it short. To say Open Carry makes you a target based on one or two incidents every few years is the same as the anti’s saying one or two CCW holders committing crimes represents all of us. Like Uncle says, as OC becomes more prevalent, there will be more cases of people having their gun taken from them, but to assume that OC is dangerous is just as silly as saying carrying a gun is dangerous and therefore you shouldn’t do it! The added danger...

With the work that we do as activists, we have a tendency to focus on getting our message out to those who do not see things the way we do. Part of why Florida Carry has monthly Open Carry Fishing Events is so that we can get out in front of people in a low key affair. Yes, this is the dreaded “Open Carry as activism” that so many gunnies deride, but it has a positive impact and shouldn’t be dismissed. We choose fishing piers because of two reasons. One, because we are fishing, Open Carry is...

This was a change from our normal venue and since the best we’ve been able to do is give an elderly lady the vapors over an AR-15 pistol, we figured we could scare more people at a larger pier. For the pants wetters who fear Open Carry makes you a target of criminals Stan says: Not OC'ing because someone might target you for your gun is like not driving a Porsche because you might get carjacked. If you fundamentally alter your life just to suit the criminals then they've pretty much already won. That's about as succinct as it can be put.

Before you get up in arms about this, remember this story. The dude who got robbed while OC'ing doesn't prove that OC'ers are targeted for their decision to openly carry any more than that one story proved open carry prevents Waffle House robberies. OC still needs to be the default and should be 100% legal everywhere. As a Floridian, my clothing options always include the possibility of accidental exposure / printing. With OC, this wouldn't be an issue. I have no issue with people who...

Anecdotal, true, but a powerful one at that Matt Brannan and J.P. Mitchell were dining in the Wafflehouse on Barrett Parkway at I-575 in Kennesaw at 4:45 in the morning recently when a scout for an armed robbery crew entered the restaurant to case it.  At the time, Matt and J.P. thought he looked a little suspicious, as he was wandering around the small restaurant like he was looking for someone.  Unknown to Matt and J.P., two cars full of armed robbers where parked behind the...

They finally have a good story to pin on everyone why OC is such a terrible idea. Security guard today just tried to physically dis-arm me. Grabbed my right arm with his left hand and attempted to grab my pistol grip with his right. Elbow to the face and a back step rear kick/shin scrape to his right knee/shin...turned and hit him with a full body roundhouse punch. Knocked his a$$ out cold. Because the cops were called I can't give full details until everything is settled but it was at a...

The fool went and open carried for the first time. Doesn't he know that his trip to Wal-Mart was a risky piece of political theater that sets us back decades? There's a time and place for open carry, and a simple shopping trip isn't one of them. You should only open carry where nobody will notice in order to avoid scaring anyone or getting negative media attention. Period. Because you may think you're helping the cause, but you're not. Or so I've been told.

When your own side is firmly against you? My earlier post had nothing to do with Sebastian directly. He just happened to, like clockwork, chime in about open carrying in his usual manner. You see, to Sebastian, everything is political and a PR stunt. There is a time and place to open carry, to exercise your rights, but so far, Sebastian has yet to find a single instance where he thinks it is OK to do so. And trust me, he believes his view on the matter is the final word. For example I am...

That's the gist of many gunnies I read, and it pisses me the hell off. I can't OC because even though I live in a place that has some of the least restrictive carry laws, OC is still verboten. However, if it was allowed tomorrow, I'd OC most of the time. One, I don't buy into the whole Super Mall Ninja "I'll keep it hidden so I can surprise my attacker" shit, nor do I think the chances of me not being able to keep my gun out of the fight are worth weighing (how many of you have ever...
