I’m more than happy to fan the flames
When the fire is one of freedom, you want it to spread. NRA is alerting members on two bills proceeding in Pennsylvania. One is a bill to give some teeth to our preemption provision, HB1523, sponsored by Daryl Metcalfe. This bill does not go nearly as far as the Florida law, but at least puts the municipality on the hook for legal fees and damages. HB45 was an amazing piece of work. Illegal gun laws dropped off the books on their own accord and even Miami folded like a cheap lawn chair...

I was going to say this
But Larry Correia says is much better As for all of the people out there on the internet having a massive freak out about the government potentially damaging something they love… WELCOME TO THE PARTY. You think this is something new or unusual? Nope. This is just about a topic that you happen to be familiar with. If you fall into that camp, I want you to take a deep breath, step back, and examine all of the other issues in the past that you didn’t know jack squat about, but your knee...

Pretty please with sugar on top?
I meant to get to this story last week, but like many things in my life, it got pushed aside and partially forgotten. Although cleared of shooting charges in a 2007 dispute at a Key Largo trailer resort, a Hialeah man still faces a felony count of carrying the handgun he used to defend himself. Why, pray tell, is this man facing felony charges for a right enumerated in the Constitution? Because he didn’t have a permission slip to do so. Jorge Correa, 44, must return for a November...

Bump for effect
I’m not going to lie, full auto fire is fun. Burst is a blast as well. In this regard, the gov’t has won – I refuse to jump through the hoops needed to get any sort of NFA item, including cans or auto weaponry. Every time I think about getting a suppressor, I get frustrated at the crap I’d have to go through PLUS pay $600+ for a $20 part and, should I want another for a different firearm, I’d have to set up the entire dog and pony show yet again and give up. Toss in the fact that if I don’t set...

Hand in hand
It’s almost a cliché in the gunnie circles that “The Second protects the First”. I’m a firm believer in the saying because there’s a lot of truth to it. Dr. Suzanna Gratia Hupp once said How a politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individual… as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care of. Unfortunately, I think this goes well beyond politicians....

A sad state of affairs
Bill Quick opines about the difficulty in retrieving some firearms of his from another state and bringing them back to California. One of the commenters mentions that technically, he could drive to IN, disassemble the firearms, store the parts in separate containers, and not even have a casing of ammo in the car and be within the laws. To which I replied, if we’re having to do all that to obtain weaponry, then it’s kind moot to get them anyway. This is why I fight against gun laws. I’m 100%...

Such anger over a small chunk of metal
So, I saw this auction for a few Class III lowers. Most had only one bid at around $21. As always, if it's too good to be true, it's too good to be true. Turns out, they're post '86, which means I am not allowed to own one. Think about it. This is just the lower, serialized and stamped in a way that makes it a 'machine gun'. Doesn't matter if you put a bolt action 50 BMG upper on it, it's considered a machine gun. And because that particular piece of aluminum was put into the registry after...

It matters because it could have been me
JayG has a post up (along with a stunning graphic, if I do say so myself) regarding this lovely little story Concerns about an Oregon Department of Transportation employee who purchased several guns after being placed on leave prompted law enforcement across Southern Oregon to step in. Negotiators and a SWAT team from Medford police safely took a man — whose name wasn't released — into protective custody Monday morning in the 500 block of Effie Street, Medford police said in a news...

Registration leads to confiscation
Every. Single. Time They used to be legal firearms, but now they're either unregistered or outright banned, and they're wanted by police before there's a chance burglars put them in Toronto's underground and underworld markets. Since March 1, Project Safe City swept 400 unregistered weapons 150 of them handguns from homes throughout the city. No charges were filed. Police are reviewing thousands of gun ownership files to determine which weapons have lapsed registrations and which are now...

Nothing better to do, I guess
Went to the doctor's office this morning to have my neck looked at. It was hosed, and like I expected, I was given little pills of pure happiness and contentment muscle relaxers. At this moment I'm as high as a kite, but I have to admit if my back / neck hurts, I don't care enough to notice. Anyway, I stopped by Walgreens to fill my prescription for the wondrous, miracle euphoria pills and noticed that the entire parking lot was full of cops and news crews. My first thought was that I just...

Ah, the joys of having the government control every...
