One little benefit from having a Coonan is that one can take one of their Magazines and use it to "Speedily Reload" a Lever Action Carbine in that caliber, rather than one at a time off Cartridge Loops. Just take a full mag, place it against the loading gate, (bullets facing toward the muzzle) and slide them in.
If one is stuck in a place where one is Legally Barred from owning a "Dreaded Black Evil Semi-Auto Rifle with the Shoulder thing that goes Up," and/or has "NO 11 round or Greater Magazines in your Pistol", this is a viable set up.
Besides, a variation of a Browning Design, feeding a Henry/Tyler/Winchester product with Keith/Smith Ammo? Can't get much more American than that!

He was at the Tulsa gun show in November, had a chance to handle them.
No, you jerk, the guns.
Very impressive work, smooth and solid. I'd love to try firing one.

I got to fondle one at Knob Creek back in April and it felt pretty good. The one thing that felt strange about the Coonan was that the trigger was a pivoting trigger, rather than the straight back classic 1911 trigger. Its a perfectly good trigger. You can't use aftermarket 1911 triggers on a Coonan anyway. No big deal. It just feels different.
Firehand - What did you think of the trigger? Did you see the difference too or am I just odd?

Freiheight, would us Glock Trigger people find it weird? Remember, my 1911 has the LDA.

Want.

Robb - I had to google the LDA, so I'm not qualified to comment.
Really the trigger is fine. Its just not the same as a 1911 trigger. My primary hangup is that it looks different and isn't EXACTLY a scaled up 1911.
Still want one.

My local range had one to rent. It was insanely fun when it worked but it jammed every 3-4 rounds. If I got one that worked it would be heaven but the experience made me a bit less rabid to get one.

I've only seen a couple of Coonan's but never saw one that worked. Like the old Bullseye 1911's set up to fire .38 Specials.

Very interesting, yeah definite want. Though I have reservations about the finish.

We've had the .38 Super since 1929.
Why mess with the rimmed .357 when the rimless Super is available?
Yes, "'Cause I want one." is perfectly acceptable but does it go beyond that?
