A few weeks ago, I was approached by Ryan of Louisville Leather to see if I’d be interested in reviewing some of his holsters to help get the word out about his business. I was delighted to help and Ryan sent me this beautiful holster for my M&P 40.

I am simply amazed at the quality that a small company can deliver. I’m far from a leather-smith but I can easily tell that these holsters are solid, well stitched, and designed well. It carried perfectly, sitting just right on my belt and keeping the cant of the pistol forward without poking the rear sights out of my shirt. According to Ryan, each holster is individually cut and the stitching is closer and more conforming than many commercial holsters to maintain its shape better. From my yanking and prying on the thing, I have to agree.

I like the snaps for the belt loop. I'm used to my Minotaur with the Kydex clips so I like being able to take off my holster, gun and all, without removing my belt and this made it (Dear Lord, forgive me) a snap! The fit was tight enough to keep the pistol secure while moving around and yet drawing didn't bind up.

The inside of the holster was comfortable and didn't rub on me in ways momma wouldn't approve of. It stayed put throughout the day, didn't 'walk' bow & aft, and was completely hidden under a regular shirt.

Louisville leather provides several options in leather, color, and stitching and are competitively priced ($50-$65). So far, I'm impressed with my IWB holster so if you're looking for a new, leather holster, give them a look!

I'm honored that Louisville Leather considered my blog worthy of sending some holsters to review (another coming next week!). I'm also just floored about the quality that these small shops can produce. For an industry that’s supposedly dying according to the anti’s, there sure seems to be a lot of companies popping up with goods and services related to firearms.
