I have been putting off the whole "looking for insurance" thing because I hate it, but with geico my premium goes up every time it renews. I guess it's time.

I've shopped and can't beat State Farm. Claims are settled quickly. Agent is good. I am biased since I do some web stuff for them. Just make sure you compare apples to apples and not Glocks to revolvers.

I am, and to the chagrin of the lady who took my call, USAA was beat only by Geico in "HOLYSHITTHATSBLEEPINEXPENSIVE!!!"

Actual legal disclaimer: my license to sell insurance lapsed, and I am not a representative of State Farm or Nationwide Insurance.

The report that SF will cancel your policy simply for having three claims is an utter fabrication. State Farm is notoriously risk adverse as a carrier which does mean that a multiple claim history will cause you to be evaluated and could result in your policy being dropped.

Currently I carry my coverage via Nationwide, their rates (in the PNW) are competitive and their service has been excellent. They are less risk adverse than a Libert Mutual or State Farm, but moreso than Geico or Progressive.

I will second the recommendation for USAA if you qualify. Ever since learning about "Geico guns" in this article I haven't even considered being a Geico customer. Progressive is off my list too.

Geico has great commercials and a rule of thumb I follow for most products is the better the commercial, the worse the product.

I read years ago that GEICO is very risk averse and will drop insureds at the first claim.
