That's great. Even other OH LEOs are calling out Canton PD. I'm writing that one down as a win.

I see some of the posters there aren't happy about that comment from John Law, but I look at it as a pre-emptive strike against "Yes, officer, I scared them away with this gun! *waves gun around*."

Had a similar one happen to a VCDL and Opencarry.org member in Northern Virginia. He patronizes a gun friendly bank. When he visited once, the manager asked to speak with him.

Told him that he hadn't even realized it, but that they were convinced he'd thwarted a robbery the last time he was there.

The tellers spotted a guy in a hoodie come through the door, look around furtively like he was looking for threats and just acting suspicious in general.

Guy saw the member's openly carried 1911, did a double-take, and beat feet for the door.

Wasn't a crime so wasn't reported to the cops and the guy who "saved the day" didn't even know it had happened until the branch manager told him about it later.

I'd be willing to bet that this is the prevalent reaction of criminals to armed potential victims. In my limited experience, the TV type criminal who is remorselessly fearless are virtually non-existent. I think the whole "they'll just shoot you first" thing is a bit more hollywood than reality.

The problem with "Don't scare the white people" is that there's something that scares everybody; try to upset nobody, you do nothing.
