A while back in #gunblogger_conspiracy, I mentioned that it wouldn’t be long before the kid who came forward about the abuse he received at the hands of Penn State’s Sandusky would start getting blamed for being the victim.

Right on cue

Victim One, the first known alleged victim of abuse by former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky, had to leave his school in the middle of his senior year because of bullying, his counselor said Sunday.

Officials at Central Mountain High School in Clinton County weren’t providing guidance for fellow students, who were reacting badly about Joe Paterno’s firing and blaming the 17-year-old, said Mike Gillum, the psychologist helping his family. Those officials were unavailable for comment this weekend.

The name-calling and verbal threats were just too much, he said.

It’s sad that I was able to ‘foresee’ this event. We live in a society that, for whatever reason, has been trained to blame everyone but the person responsible. In this case, we see blame for the kid rather than the abuser. You’ll see gang violence blamed on everything except the gang members themselves. Guns are blamed for every ill under the sun rather than those who use them for ill.

What do you expect from a collectivist mindset? The group > the individual and the individual that does something that damages the group (in this case, Penn State Football = the group), that person is at fault. #OWS? Rapes are swept under the rug as an individual being violated < the overall group’s message.

It’s sick.
