Meanwhile in the Tweetosphere, AP reporter Steve Peoples tweeted that “Cain defended his foreign policy stumbles. Says knowing every detail isn’t important: “We need a leader, not a reader”.

I can forgive a lot of things in a candidate. Being too lazy to do the basic homework for the job is not one of them.

To which I commented-

Yeah, I too was one who thought Cain a refreshing voice in the beginning. I’ve put no stock in the allegations against him, nor did I really give much thought to his handling of the ordeal.

Honestly, I’d not be too concerned with the idea he put forth – we shouldn’t be relying on a single individual to have all the answers to the entire world’s problems on hand at any time. However, if he doesn’t have any clue on the subject matter, then he can easily be mislead by the very people he surrounds himself with, and that’s not what I’m looking for.

For the most part, I like Cain’s positions on many things. No politician is perfect and I just have to live with the fact that any person I can vote for is going to screw something up in some way. If Cain gets the nomination, I will gladly vote for him even with all his shortcomings. The same goes for Newt, Perry, Bachmann, Santorum, or the guy who played Chachi on Happy Days. The only one I refuse to vote for is Romney because he holds the distinction of only differing from Obama in being half-black less.

Still, it’s sad that in one of the more important political races of our times where the sitting president could be defeated by a turnip, the GOP can only offer this group.

It’s enough to make you start counting your ammo.
