Two threats do not a trend make, but remember there are plenty of those out there who consider your life worth nothing if it is of no use to them and while some of them may be utter cowards who talk a big game online but would run at the first sign of resistance, some of them aren’t.

And for that, I have one response

Remember, I got disqualified at my last USPSA competition for breaking an arbitrary safety rule, not because I couldn’t shoot straight.

No, I do not plan to fight the 99. However, I will plan for said fight. You will find it rather difficult to get within head-chopping range with a sucking chest wound.

I'd say arbitrary and not as a bad thing. 230° could still be considered safe due to the shape of the bay, but they chose 180° because it's probably the easiest to envision since most people can visualize a perpendicular line. That, and no RO wants to walk around with a protractor.

The actual degree is arbitrary, the safety aspect of it is most definitely not.

Hey Robb, not for nothing but there is NOTHING arbitrary about that 180, there is a range officer behind you at all times, and he would like to not get shot, to say nothing about about the rest of the squad. You "choose" 230 and now ricochets are bouncing towards people instead of towards berms.

I do wish you would take your DQ a bit more seriously.

I do take it seriously and the number is arbitrary. Why not 173°, just to be safe?

I'm with you on the punks. The 180 is because of where bullets bounce when they hit hard things in the berms. You could pick 90 or 0 but then you lose some of the practical aspect. Yes you could pick 173 but how do you measure it? 180 is easy to tell and at the edge of safety.

I wonder if the punks realize that when they back you against the wall, the only place you have to go is in that forward 180 degrees that you've been training to shoot like the dickens in.

I'm OK with backing away, but the steel clears the leather when the shoulders hit the brick. Exact materials may vary.

Mao once said "power grows from the barrel of a gun." So, with that, I'd like to point out a couple of observations regarding you and yours.
First, you lot do tend to support gun bans, ammo restrictions, capacity limits, and other similar legislation in the areas which you live. Thus, it's very likely you are not personally armed.
Second, you people tend to have a very low opinion of law enforcement officers and the military. In fact, you have made your hate of both groups very public. I'm kind of wondering how you're going to get them on your side?
Third, I know you think of yourselves as irresitably hip to nonwhite urban people that are themselves armed, and that they'd be so happy to be ordered to fight and die by you. he says 99, but I think that's too high. I don't think they're 47% either, I'm thinking more like 12.5 or 1 in 8 and I'm probably being generous. To quote the other guy in Tombstone, "Your friends might get me in a rush, but not before I turn your head into a canoe."
