Anti-Rights Idiocy

When one gun control method fails, call it something different and try again. “Barcoding bullets”.

Notice how the previous, miserable failures are ignored and the pure emotional drive that “anything that lowers gun violence” is permissible to these bigots. Doesn’t matter who’s rights have to be trampled, so long as murders happen with something besides a gun, it should go sailing through!

It’s funny to watch these brain-trusts understand that there’s no chance in hell of these kinds of things passing but trying nonetheless. Of course, they have the upper echelons of the police force saying how wonderful of an idea this is, so they’re given false hope. Never mind that I can cast my own, non marked, bullets. So can any black market dealer. But why let reality interfere with an emotional plea to violate rights?

Can we just call a spade a spade here; these ass-hats are anti-freedom, not anti-violence. They KNOW that barcoding bullets will do nothing to reduce violence. Simply: once the barcode comes into play, the violence has already been DONE. Then, when the police finally get the bullet, nope... no barcode. Why? Because criminals aren't STUPID. As soon as you put a barcode on a bullet, someone will find a way to remove it, or they will come up with ammo that isn't barcoded, or buy ammo on the black market so when the police track down the barcode, they will find a 90 year old alzheimers patient in a nursing home that has had dementia for the last 5 years. Criminals aren't going to leave something, including a bullet, at a crime scene that would directly trace back to them.

For all of that not-help bringing the gunman to justice, we, the taxpayers, get taken to the cleaners for millions of dollars to support the grand scheme of amunition registration. Further putting our country in debt. Further dumping the economy into the skids. Further increasing un-employment. Further increasing violent crimes done by desperate people.

See, bullet barcodes CAUSE violence.

Lets think about this for a second.

1) Is this even possible? Seems to me in most cases the bullet, after impact, may not be readable. Maybe a FMJ that hit something soft it might work, but a JHP?

2) I am kinda surprised that high end manufacturers are not doing something like this already. Seems like they would want the ability to track their products on a unit level. I could see someone like Hornady coding the cases on loaded ammunition for tracking and quality assurance purposes.

3) We all know that doing something like will not slow down criminals. But all of us also know that a lawyer is attached to every bullet. So really for us law abiding folks, functionally there is no real difference. (don't mistake that comment for being in favor of this legislation)

In short, this whole conversation seems kinda dumb.

The idea may have merit. Like all potentially good ideas, it should be tested on government first. Have all police and other govt security guards for VIPs carry bar-coded ammo, and post the bar-code information to a public website in real time. Maybe RFID tags too.
