Say Uncle points to a reporter doing what reporters do best – get the information completely and utterly wrong

The other, which has been on the books in various forms since 1994, prohibits the sale of hollow-point bullets and similar ammunition that fragments or explodes upon impact.

Which Uncle sagely observes that, no… they don’t. Hollowpoints expand on impact. Usually.

What really makes me scratch my head is the concept of why exploding bullets would be a bad idea? The damned things aren’t supposed to tickle, they are designed to damage tissue. A bullet that could expend its energy outward would have a double benefit – a better chance at stopping the threat right then and there and less chance of overpenetration and hitting innocent bystanders (a job better left to the police!)

Somehow, the weenies of the world have gotten it into their mind that bullets can be designed to somehow be ‘non-lethal’ and that anything designed to cause physical damage is to be regarded as barbaric. The design behind a gun is to move a projectile at high velocity and any object, even a rubber bullet, moving at a high enough speed can kill. Hell, even blanks can kill without a projectile! The only way to prevent this is to have a soft enough projectile that doesn’t move at an appreciable speed, and that completely negates the reason for having a pistol.

Which, if you think about it, is the end game for these people. Sadly, they can’t seem to think their cunning plan through of how, exactly, they’re going to get the guns from the people who don’t want to give them up? Threaten them with Nerf darts or Super Soakers?
