Met up last night with longtime reader Longhorn Jeff - he of The Wheelbarrow Full of Cash fame - last night at my favorite watering hole, The Tampa Bay Brewing Company. Great guy and to this day it still amazes me that people actually want to meet me rather than just have someone else hand me a restraining order (I mean, how impersonal is that?).
Had a great conversation and Jeff also brought and old set of Lord of the Rings books, including The Hobbit, for Georgia since he read how much she liked the first book and he had the set just laying around. This morning when I showed it to her, her eyes about popped out of her head and she held them close to her, hugging them tightly and saying “These are mine??? I can have my own copies?”
I had to stop her from trying to start The Fellowship of the Ring this morning. 5 to 1 says it’s the first thing she does when she gets home from school.
So Jeff, thanks for the company, the books, and the wheelbarrow full of cash. Next time you’re in the Tampa area, drop me a line.
And to all my readers, while I do this to entertain myself, it’s the small acts of kindness that you people bring by simply reading this dreck or the occasional “Hey, I saw this, thought you’d like it” packages I get that really make me feel honored. For those of you that feel a little guilty right about now that you’re not quite as good of a reader as these others, penitence is available by clicking on the Tip Jar icon to your right and dropping a Benjamin or two. All will be forgiven then.
