Seriously, who needs to bury a ‘time capsule’ anymore? I have a blog that serves the exact same purpose.
Which is the purpose of this blog post, by the way. It has nothing to do with guns, but everything to do with my two daughters who I love deeply.
One of the great things about being a father is that I get to entertain my children and I do so by being as goofy as I can, and trust me, that can get really goofy. One of my lifelong goals has always been to voice a cartoon character but since that’s more than likely never going to happen, I simply do what I can around the house. Out of this has emerged several ‘characters’ that I entertain my kids with.
Paco – Paco is a pink, Littlest Pet Shop chinchilla. He’s got a gravelly Hispanic accent (a la Cheech) and is one cool dude who love nachos and learning how to fly. He gets injured a lot (he’s broken his ears too many times to count) but nothing phases him. Paco is my girls’ favorite, more than likely because it involves me sitting on the floor, playing with them.
Ms. Grimsby – A proper, English woman (voiced similar to any female played by any of the Monty Python cast) who is very stern, likes things to be organized, and is always in need of some ingredient so she can make bread or cookies. Regardless of what she asks for (flour or sugar) whatever the girls ‘hand’ her is wrong. “I need two eggs, those are bouncy balls”. This cracks them up.
Bananabee – One of their Littlest Pet Shop kits came with a tiny bee. There was a small hole on the top of the head for accessories like a hat or flowers or something, but I found that one of the bananas that came with a monkey fit in the little hole, and thus Bananabee was born. Bananabee talks in a high, nasally voice and ends every sentence with ‘bananabee’. Somehow, bananabee gets tasked with telling stories and giving piggyback rides.
Slushy Dog - Slushy dog (who loves to loudly proclaim his name… a lot…) is voiced how I’d expect a loyal but dumb dog would sound. His S’s are slurred, very much like Sid the Sloth from the Ice Age movies. Slushy is happy go lucky regardless of anything. You could set his tail on fire and he’d think it was wonderful because he could make s’mores. His never ending well of happiness (and his enjoyment at saying his own name) is a source of unending entertainment for the girls.
Those are the major voices I do. Minor characters get added and dropped all the time, but I figured I should write them down so that some day in the future, I can look back and remind myself of them for my grandchildren.
