So, as I’ve decided to get back to competition shooting, I’ve had to order a bunch of new gear. Shooting the Para meant using a 1911 holster and single stack magazines & holders. If I’m going to shoot the Smith & Wesson M&P 40, I needed a whole slew of new items, most of which are on their way to my domicile now. Sadly, nobody offered to pay for the gear if I’d wear their competitors’ logos. I thought it was a great idea, myself.
I picked up a Blade-Tech Revolution holster. Caleb has spoken well about them as have numerous other shooters. It was inexpensive at $30 so I figured if it doesn’t work out, I’m not out that much cash. I also grabbed several Blackhawk! magazine holders as I’ve been happy with the ones I have for the single stack magazines.
Finding the magazines was painful. Most places didn’t have them in stock unless I wanted the 10 round mags (which my OCD would not allow) but I finally found some from Botach Tactical and they were cheaper than anywhere else I had seen at $22.98. Hopefully Botach is a reputable company. I know the name, but can’t recall where I had seen them. Shipping was free as well so that was a bonus.
The only two non-required things I’d like to get is a membership to USPSA and a Maglula UpLULA magazine loader to save my thumbs between strings. The membership comes first so I can finally start getting my rating down pat and that should be pretty easy to do once I’ve paid off all the other gear. Oh, as for that – I had to borrow my own money to do that. Each week the wife and I allot ourselves some ‘blow money’ which we can spend on whatever we want. I didn’t have enough, so we took the money out of one envelope, ‘budgeted’ the gear, and I’ll just pay that back each week. Should be in the clear by next month, and it will be October before I can make it to the next shoot anyway.
I’ve got 500 rounds of ammo sitting by, ready to go. Now all I need is some skill to shoot them with!
Oh, I should probably get one of these too.
